The Importance of Continuous Optimization in Mobile Networks

With this goal in mind, the 3dB Consult team has spent the past few months working on a mobile network optimization project in Ceuta, focused on strengthening network performance and improving key service quality indicators.
A Data-Driven Approach to Continuous Improvement
The project involved continuous analysis of network KPIs, identification of improvement opportunities, and implementation of changes across different areas of the radio network. The trends observed between the period before optimization and the following weeks show sustained improvement in key indicators related to users’ voice and data experience.
Key results include:
- An 18.2% improvement in the VoLTE dropped call rate (DCR VoLTE).
- A 16.7% reduction in failures associated with data session establishment (DCR PS E-RAB).
- A 23.3% reduction in events associated with suboptimal cell selection during VoLTE calls.
- An increase in the VoLTE handover success rate (HOSR), reaching levels above 99%.
These indicators reflect a very positive trend in network performance and an improvement in the quality users experience when using mobile services in their daily lives.
